“Astrid mempunyai semangat pantang menyerah dalam melakukan setiap kegiatan. Dia juga fasih menguasai beberapa bahasa asing, seperti Inggris dan Spanyol,” kata Tommy Siawira yang dihubungi okezone, belum lama ini.

Selain keunggulan itu, lanjut Tommy, pencinta kuliner Nusantara ini juga merupakan sosok yang cerdas dan cepat dalam memelajari hal-hal baru. Karena itu, Tommy pun optismistis Astrid bisa berprestasi di ajang internasional itu.

TANTOWI Yahya menyarankan kepada Astrid Ellena untuk membuat strategi khusus agar bisa bersaing dengan para finalis Miss World 2011. Apa yang harus dilakukan Miss Indonesia 2011 ini?

“Tentu saja Astrid dan timnya harus mampu membaca selera atau tren penilaian dewan juri tahun ini. Mengintip siapa-siapa calon juri, akan banyak membantu persiapan Astrid. Walau bagaimanapun, sering kali penilaian juri subjektif,” tulis Tantowi dalam e-mail yang diterima redaksi okezone, baru-baru ini.

Selain itu, sambung ikon musik country di Indonesia ini, dara cantik yang jago tiga bahasa asing ini  bisa memanfaatkan masa karantina untuk tampil terbaik.

“Masa karantina adalah masa penilaian, itu harus benar diresapi dan disadari oleh Astrid. Karena itu, Astrid harus mampu dan mau mengikuti seluruh tata tertib, aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan yang bisa menambah penilaian, serta menunjukkan seluruh kemampuan yang ada begitu ada kesempatan,” tukas pria kelahiran Palembang, Sumatera Selatan, 29 Oktober 1960 ini.

Seperti diketahui, November mendatang, Astrid Ellena akan bertolak ke London, Inggris, mengikuti ajang Miss World. Miss Indonesia 2011 ini akan bersaing dengan 117 finalis dari seluruh penjuru dunia. Miss Cayman Islands 2011 Lindsay Japal:
Lindsay Japal of George Town was crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2011 on September 25, 2011 at the Lions’ Community Centre in George Town. She is 23 year old and will represent Cayman Islands in Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012 Pageants. 10 finalists competed in Miss Cayman Islands 2011. Janelle Mutto was the first runner-up and Crystal Tomlinson was the second runner-up.

Alina Buchschacher, Miss Bern, was crowned Miss Switzerland 2012/ Miss Schweiz 2012 in an event held in the city of Lugano on September 23, 2011. The International Business student Alina is 20 year old and stands 1.71 m. She will represent her country in Miss Universe 2012. The 1st runner-up was Julia Flückiger, and the 2nd runner-up was Ashley Balmer.

Colombia’s Lizeth González, who placed second in Miss Colombia Universe 2011, is the winner of the World Queen of Banana 2011, which took place in Machala, Ecuador.
The 1st runner-up was Miss Germany, Johanna Acs. The other finalists were Misses Peru, María Gracia Figueroa, Venezuela, Jéssica Schell, and Canada, Elishia Sahota (Miss Photogenic).
16 countries participated in this year’s pageant.
The World Queen of Banana exists as an international event since 1985, and this is Colombia’s 6th title.

Cassandra Becerra, from Distrito Federal, was crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2011at the Centro de Convenciones y Negocios in Chetumal on September 17, 2011. She is 23 year old and stands 1.73m. She will represent Mexico in Miss Earth 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Miss World Dominican Republic 2011

 
Marianly Tejada was crowned Miss World Dominican Republic 2011 and will represent her country in Miss World, on November 6, in London. The event happened in the city of Santo Domingo.
The 1s runner-up was Catherine Ramírez, who got the title Miss International Dominican Republic 2011, and will represent her country in Miss International 2011, in China.
Saly Aponte, the 2nd runner-up, was crowned Miss Supranational Dominican Republic 2012, and will compete in Poland next year.

PERSAINGAN kompetitif bakal mewarnai perjalanan Astrid Ellena selama mengikuti ajang Miss World 2011. Seperti apa strategi dara cantik ini saat mengikuti kompetisi tersebut?

Bersaing dengan 117 negara bukanlah perkara mudah. Selain dibutuhkan keterampilan yang menjadi modal utama memenangkan kompetisi, strategi jitu pun perlu dipersiapkan sebagai kekuatan alat tempur.

Apalagi, ajang yang diperebutkan di kontes tersebut dapat dilakukan melalui beberapa sesi fast track, seperti ajang talent show. Dan sesi inilah yang bakal digenjot Astrid Ellena untuk menonjolkan dirinya di mata juri.

"Untuk melalui tahap ‘talent show’, saya akan belajar piano dan terus memperdalam lagi agar lebih mahir dalam bermain," katanya kepada okezone di Jakarta, belum lama ini.

Selain berusaha mengeksplorasi kemampuan seninya, Ellen –panggilan Astrid Ellena- pun bakal memperdalam kemampuan bahasa asing yang dimilikinya.

"Saya akan memperdalam lagi bahasa Spanyol saya karena di sana banyak sekali yang bisa bahasa Spanyol, sehingga dapat mempermudah komunikasi. Tak hanya itu, saya pun akan menambah wawasan tentang Indonesia dan memahami isu global yang sedang terjadi," tutupnya.

We are pleased to inform that the 2011 MISS INTERCONTINENTAL Pageant will be telecast from Orihuela (Alicante), Spain on October 7th, 2011. Orihuela is the capital of the region of the "Vega Baja del Segura" it has also been a former kingdom. The city was named the first city of the province of Alicante and is the Birth Place of the spanish poet Miguel Hernández.

This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of MISS INTERCONTINENTAL and we are looking back on a marvellous history which included exiting places, stunning winners and high level entertainment. 

All delegates will arrive in Alicante Airport on September 22 and will enjoy the wonderful clima, the great hospitality and the magic of an old but modern city with numerous munumental buildings. The final will be  on 7th of October in the historical Teatro Circo. The Teatro Circo was buildt on May 22, 1892 situated at the Central Market (Plaza de Balmes) in Alicante. It remained active until 1906. The following year in 1907 was dismantled and transferred to Orihuela. It shows an area of ​​French origin, now almost disappeared in Europe. The transfer to Orihuela began in early 1907 and it opens doors in April 25, 1908. it has a capacity of 2,000 guests. We have been overhelmed when the city offered us to stage the 40th anniversary in this historical and exclusive Venue which has the charme of the 18th century.The Meliá Palacio de Tudemir Boutique Hotel will be the official Host Hotel for all our delegates and the WBO Staff. Winnie Sin, a 24 year old TV Sports Commentator, as well as a part time model, has been chosen as Miss International Macau 2011, and will now represent the former Portuguese colony in the 51st Miss International Pageant, to be held in Chengdu, China.

Winnie Sin stands 168cm in height, and she used to be a synchronized swimmer, having represented Macau in the Asian Games. The new Miss International Macau is also a ballerina who”s been dancing since the age of 8.

She enjoys going gym, reading, home cooking, traveling and also meditation.

Macau was first represented in Miss International in 2005. Sin will be its 5th representative in the pageant.

Gwendolyn Ruais bested 24 other candidates in the first Miss World Philippines beauty pageant earlier today at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

She will be representing the Philippines in the Miss World 2011, in London, on November 6.

Ruais’ runners up were Helen Nicolette Henson (first princess),  Martha Chloe McCully (second princess), Ma. Paula Bianca Paz (third princess), and Jaysel Arrozal (fourth princess).

The coronation night, aired over GMA-7, was hosted by celebrities Dingdong Dantes, Carla Abellana, and Isabelle Daza.

Alexandria Mills, Miss World 2010, was present at the event.

JUMLAH kontestan Miss World 2011 mengalami peningkatan dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Tahun ini yang berpartisipasi sebanyak 118 finalis, sementara Miss World 2010 diikuti 115 wanita cantik.

November mendatang, ajang Miss World 2011 siap dihelat di London, Inggris. Sebanyak 118 wanita cantik dari seantero dunia akan bersaing menjadi yang terbaik menggantikan posisi Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills.

Dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya yang diikuti 115 finalis, jumlah peserta Miss World 2011 mengalami peningkatan. Ini berarti persaingan akan semakin ketat, di mana masing-masing finalis akan unjuk gigi dalam setiap babak penjurian selama karantina Miss World. Demikian yang dikutip dari missworld, Minggu (18/9/2011).

Adapun untuk Indonesia akan diwakil Astrid Ellena. Miss Indonesia 2011 yang kerap disapa Ellen ini akan unjuk prestasi terbaik di ajang Miss World yang tahun ini memasuki penyelenggaraan ke-61.
 
Sosok pemilik nama lengkap Astrid Ellena Indriana Yunadi ini terpilih menjadi pemenang di acara final Miss Indonesia, Central Park Ballroom, Jakarta, 3 Juni silam. Ellen sukses melewati setiap tahap penjurian, mulai dari babak 10 besar hingga tiga besar Miss Indonesia 2011.

Di sesi tiga besar, Ellen dengan tangkas memberikan jawaban singkat dan padat lewat pertanyaan yang dibacakan Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, yakni dalam opini Anda, hal apakah yang paling penting harus dilakukan oleh wanita dalam hidupnya?

Pemilik tinggi badan 169 cm ini memberikan jawaban dengan bagus.

"Wanita perlu mengedepankan harkat, martabat, dan integritas. Menjadi seorang ibu adalah hal terindah karena dari rahimnya terlahir generasi penerus bangsa. Apalagi surga berada di telapak kaki ibu," tuturnya.

Dan, jawaban tersebutlah yang akhirnya mencuri perhatian kelima dewan juri, yaitu Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, Martha Tilaar, Tantowi Yahya, Harry Darsono, dan Ferry Salim. Mereka pun sepakat menjadikan gadis berkulit putih ini sebagai pemenang.(Okezone)

Kesederhanaan dan kecantikan alami, tanpa operasi plastik, adalah dua elemen yang membuat Miss Angola, Leila Lopes memenangkan Miss Universe beberapa hari yang lalu.
Tapi sekarang, tampaknya masa lalu gadis ini lebih rumit dari yang diperkirakan.
Beberapa menit setelah Miss Angola, Leila Lopes memakai mahkota Miss Universe 2011 di Sao Paulo, Brazil, seorang pria bernama Charles Mukano menghubungi beberapa media Argentina. Pria tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa dia yang telah membantu Leila Lopes memalsukan dokumen palsu yang memungkinkan gadis itu ikut dalam kontes kecantikan di Inggris dan menang sebagai Miss Angola UK.
Charles Mukano menjelaskan, berhubung kontes tersebut hanya diperuntukkan untuk wanita yang tinggal di Inggris, dia menyiapkan dokumen palsu yang menyatakan bahwa Leila Lopes seorang mahasiswi sekolah bisnis di Inggris, pada saat Leila masih menetap di Afrika.
Infobae, media Argentina, bahkan mengutip media Angola yang menyatakan, diduga Charles Mukano telah menyuap juri-juri kontes di Inggris untuk memastikan kemenangan Leila Lopes.
Tuduhan yang serius dan cukup "sadis". Sejauh ini, belum ada tanggapan dari penyelenggara Miss Angola UK atas tuduhan tersebut.(Wartanews)

Dengan kemenangan besar datang juga kritik pedas. Miss France, Laury Thilleman ,finalis sepuluh besar dengan sinis berkomentar dan telah menyindir bahwa Leila tidak pantas menang.

Sepertinya, menurut Laury, Leila Lopes menang bukan karena kecantikannya, bukan juga karena kepintarannya, tapi karena kontes diselenggarakan di Brazil, negara bekas jajahan Portugis, sama seperti Angola, negara asal Leila Lopes.

Ethiopia first competed in Miss World back in 2003, when its first ever official titleholder, Hayat Ahmed Mohammed, was a semi-finalist and finished the competition in 6th place.

In the US, Miss U 2011 is the least watched in history

Celebrating its 60th edition, Miss Universe 2011 was watched by less Americans than even in history. the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant drew a 1.6 adults 18-49 18-49 rating, down 16% vs. last year and its lowest rated show ever. NBC placed 2nd among the American tv networks, behind ABC.
Months earlier, the Miss USA pageant celebrated high ratings thanks to much appreciated (and needed) innovations and a well-produced event. Miss Universe did not follow its pattern, as expected by pageant fans from around the globe, and suffered with a tremendous lack of interest from the general US public.

Miss Finland Pia Pakarinen gives up Title

No longer Miss Finland

HELSINKI, September 16 – Upon returning from Sao Paulo, Brazil, after competing in the Miss Universe pageant, Pia Pakarinen announced publicly, on national television, her decision to give up the Miss Finland 2011 title.

Between tears, Pakarinen mentioned that the last months were very hard and that she had virtually no support to prepare herself for the Miss Universe pageant held on September 12th, where she walked out from empty-handed.
She also had problems with organizers, who she says still owe her money. “I want to thank all the people who supported me in one way or the other, but I am no longer able to bear this crown”, said Pakarinen.
“Being Miss Universe is something that would have been amazing as a career, but I missed it. Now, I close this episode in my life, and as I close this door, I am sure a lot of new doors will open for me”.
